MOHS SURGERY
MOHS
Mohs surgery, also known as micrographic surgery, is an effective technique for treating the two most common types of skin cancer, basal cell carcinomas (BCCs) and squamous cell carcinomas (SCCs). The surgeon will remove thin layers of skin, layer by layer, and examine each one under a microscope. During this process, the surgeon will determine if any cancer remains and will continue the procedure until there is only cancer-free tissue remaining. After the procedure is complete, the wound will be closed and a bandage will be applied. If needed, the patient would be referred to plastic surgeon for closure.
